According to evolution, life
started as a single cell, so
random mutations must have
engineered every feature of
life on earth. But we now know
that mutations always delete
information from the genetic
code.

The Creation Story: History, Myth, Hymn, or Saga?
by Aila Annala •  Anyone who reads the Genesis story in Hebrew will find out quite soon that it is prose - a historical description of the beginnings. There is no reason for taking the creation story as a myth or hymn, although there are many liberal theologians who try to do so. Everything was created instantaneously by the word of the Creator. No evolutionary processes are possible.

God of the Gaps
by Krister Renard •  Johannes Kepler, Isaac Newton, Wilhelm von Leibniz, Carl von Linné, et cetera, contended that scientific discoveries led to more understanding of how the Creator had designed our universe. A very good illustration of the “God of the gaps” is found in the debate that took place among chemists at the beginning of the last century. The issue at stake was whether it was possible to make organic compounds out of inorganic. Nobody had yet managed to do so.

Evidence for a Young World
by D. Russell Humphreys, Ph.D. •  These are a dozen natural phenomena which conflict with the evolutionary idea that the universe is billions of years old. Much more young-world evidence exists, but I have chosen these items for brevity and simplicity. Some of the items on this list can be reconciled with an old universe only by making a series of improbable and unproven assumptions; others can fit in only with a young universe.

Evolution Fact and Theory Distinctions
by George Aldhizer, Ph.D., Gary Johnston, Ph.D., and Douglas Krull, Ph.D. •  Significant, contentious debate exists within the scientific community about evolution. The term “evolution” is used to refer to at least two different things. “Evolution” is used to refer to relatively minor variations or adaptations (e.g., changes in the size of finch beaks or the coloration of peppered moths). This is a proven scientific fact. “Evolution” also is used to refer to the belief that, given sufficient time, these adaptive changes could be extended such that all creatures could have developed from a common ancestor. This is an unproven scientific theory.

DNA Disaster • Wisdom in the Inward Parts
by M. Helder, Ph.D. • Alan L. Gillen, M.S., Ed.D. and Inis Bardella, M.D. •  The Burgess Shale is the fossil bed in British Columbia which was made famous by Stephen Jay Gould. When discussing organic evolution the only point of agreement among evolutionists seems to be: ‘It happened.’ Dr. Simon Conway Morris describes the situation more fully. Studies of DNA sequences (information coded in chemical form) reveal that wildly different organisms nevertheless share some very similar genes. What then explains the great differences between these organisms? Could it be a Common Designer?

Answering Evolutionists in Print Media
by David Bump •  This debate has been going on for well over a hundred years, a lot of material gets re-used on both sides. One thing evolutionists often do is imply that creationists can be ignored because they are mostly just American Protestant fundamentalists. Even a brief note that there are many creationists around the world, and that they belong to different denominations and even different religions (including Jews and Moslems) will alleviate this attack.

Time Magazine’s New Ape-Man
by James Perloff •  On the cover of the July 23, 2001 Time magazine is a painting of an ape-man called Ardipithecus ramidus kadabba with the headline “How Apes Became Human.” (not Australopithecines) There is great danger in basing conclusions on a single (toe bone; found 10 miles away!) bone. In 1922, paleontologist Henry Fairfield Osborn, an ardent evolutionist, was shown a single tooth found in Nebraska by geologist Harold Cook. After examining it, Osborn declared it belonged to an early ape-man, whom he named Hesperopithecus haroldcookii in Cook’s honor. Popularly, it became known as (one of a long line of frauds) “Nebraska Man.”

by Jerry Bergman, Ph.D. •  The complex chemical structure of biological macromolecules, especially proteins (Prion Diseases), is essential to understanding life around us. The Earth’s Magnetic Field: a Case for its Youth
by D. Russell Humphreys, Ph.D. •  Dr. Thomas G. Barnes has pointed out that rapid magnetic energy loss could not continue for more than about ten thousand years, making a powerful case for a young magnetic field, and hence a young earth. We could generalize Barnes’ theory to allow for rapid motions of the electrically conductive fluid in the earth’s core. The consequential loss rates mean that the field is definitely less than tens of thousands of years old.

In summary, Dr. Cuozzo, to use Dr. Stringer’s words, “acted in good faith” by submitting the samples to the proper authorities for examination. There are many examples of what I see as evolutionary hypocrisy.

Acquisition of Virus Resistance Does Not Provide Evidence for Macroevolution
by Jerry Bergman, Ph.D. •  Antigens are like identification cards that enable the immune system to accurately identify enemies and not attack the host’s “self” proteins. Point mutations are more common in viruses because virus genes are not repaired by a cellular editing or proofreading system, as is the situation in eukaryotes.

Close Encounters with the Camel Kind
by Glen W. Wolfrom, PhD •  Taxonomically, the camel family is named Camelida, and its members are called camelids. Crosses within the OW and NW camelids, respectively, produce fertile offspring. Modern camelids (OW and NW) belong to the same created kind and were likely represented by only two individuals on Noah’s Ark.

Limited Evolutionary Potential
by Sean D. Pittman, M.D. •  Many people think that bacteria evolve complex enzymes just as they could evolve antibiotic resistance. This is simply untrue. Meaningful changes, when they happen in the genetic codes of living things, can be detected by natural selection as either beneficial or detrimental. If they are deemed to be beneficial, they are kept for the next generation to use, but if detrimental, they are eliminated from the gene pool.

The Flight of a Fragile Theory Now Fallen
by Jerry Bergman, Ph.D. •  Is Egg Laying by Birds Evidence of Bird Evolution? Many Darwinists have taught that birds still lay eggs (oviparity) because they have not yet evolved the “more advanced” function of live birth (viviparity). Newer, empirically-based data have vindicated the wisdom of the egg-laying mode of reproduction for birds. It has been discovered that their body temperature, which is high because of the metabolic demands of flight, would endanger the lives of their young if they were to be born alive.

Scientism in Science Textbooks
by Dr. Jerry Bergman •  The protein folding problem is still unsolved and remains one of the most basic intellectual challenges in evolutionary molecular biology. We have not yet identified all the factors that are responsible in this process. We know that protein folding involves complex protein molecules calledchaperonins, and four major binding methods (sulfide linkages, salt bridges, hydrophobic interactions, and hydrogen bonds), but the subject is far more complex than scientists had at first assumed.

Isochrons Made Easier
by D. Russell Humphreys, Ph.D. •  Despite the name “isochron” (“equal time”), the slope of the line is proportional to the amount of decay that takes place, not time per se. For example, if 500-million-years’ worth of K-Ar decay (at today’s rates) took place in a rock, the resulting isochron would look the same regardless of whether that amount of decay took place in one year (e.g., the year of the Genesis flood) or over a much longer time.

Herbivores and Plant Volatiles: Part 1 — Tobacco and Tomato Plants
by E.L. Williams, Ph.D. and G.F. Howe, Ph.D. •  Many people in the US enjoy raising vegetables in home gardens. One of the favorite crops is tomatoes. It is postulated that there are three possible metabolic pathways that produce volatiles in plants. One pathway leads to the emission of indole, a second to the release of leafy green volatiles and jasmone, and the third produces terpenes. Oral secretions or regurgitant from herbivores allow the plant “. . . to identify and differentiate herbivore feeding from mere mechanical wounding” of the plant.

What Are Creationism and Evolutionism? The Problem of Definitions
by Jerry Bergman, Ph.D. •  In discussing any topic, it is critical to define the central terms used. This is especially true in the whole creation/evolution controversy. A major trait of anti-creationist literature is gross over-generalizing and labeling. Some of the many positions on creationism include: progressive, deistic, theological, ex nihilo, and direct creationism. The only common thread that runs through all of these positions is that “God did it,” the major differences between them being “how” and the time frame involved.

Herbivores: Part 2 — Volatiles Released by Host Plants
by E.L. Williams, Ph.D. and G.F. Howe, Ph.D. •  Host plants can release volatiles, resulting in the attraction of female wasp parasitoids who then lay eggs in the caterpillars trying to consume the plants. Volatiles are released which are unique to each plant. One wonders whether the differences in the mixture of volatiles emitted from a plant may allow parasitic wasps to differentiate between the species of plant under attack.

Tiny Skeletons and Human Evolution; Little People
by W.R. Barnhart •  Tom Thumb (19th Century) is a famous "little person" (formerly: "Midget") in recent history. He was born as Charles Sherwood Stratton (1838-1883). He was displayed as General Tom Thumb by P.T. Barnum’s Circus; he grew to be 40 inches tall, and weighed 70 pounds. Also, a group of small skeletons were found on the South Pacific island of Flores, Indonesia, as "Hobbit-like" and named: Homo floresiensis. The LB1 female stood approximately 1 meter (39 inches) tall and weighed about 55 pounds. The skull is about the size of a grapefruit, and photos of the skull show a unique allometry. The width is proportionately longer than the height when compared with a normally proportioned skull, with eye orbits only slightly reduced.

by E.L. Williams, Ph.D. and G.F. Howe, Ph.D. •  Analyses of plant volatiles has revealed more than 40 compounds, most of which are terpenoids. When researchers inflicted mechanical damage, such as scratching the leaves to simulate the beetle’s roughening and grooving action, the wasp parasitoid was not attracted. Once the mechanical scratches were coated with beetle oviduct secretion, however, the leaf released attractive volatiles.

The Ancients Knew Little About the Heavens Compared to Today
by Jerry Bergman, Ph.D. •  For most of human history the entire physical heavens consisted of only about 6,000 (visible) stars, all of which were very much alike, and a few planets (meaning “wanderers,” based on their movement in contrast to stars). Astronomers eventually learned that many patches of sky contain astral objects that do not separate into stars when enlarged under higher magnification. It was only in the 1700s that nebulae were discovered, and until relatively recently they were treated merely as curiosities.

Creation: Was This How God Did It?
by Barry and Helen Setterfield •  God could have created the entire cosmos supernaturally in six days, via one miracle after another. On the other hand, God could have used the very processes He invented to arrange the substances He created into the cosmos we see today. The cosmological model most adhered to today centers around two things, the Big Bang and the effect of gravity. The Bible indicates that the earth was formed before our sun started shining.

by Jerry Bergman, Ph.D. •  In 2004, Dr. Guillermo Gonzalez co-authored the book The Privileged Planet: How Our Place in the Cosmos is Designed for Discovery, which presents empirical evidence for the hypothesis that the universe is the product of intelligent design. It was this book, and a film made from the book, that got him into trouble. The book critiques the “Copernican principle,” the idea that “everything we see around us is commonplace in the universe, that we are average beings in a run-of-the-mill planetary system in an average galaxy populated by scores of other mediocrities.”

The Paradox of the “Stinging Nettle”: A Blessing and a Curse
by Stephen B. Austin •  Stinging Nettle, Urtica dioica L., is a paradox, providing an abundance of benefits, both for humanity and wildlife, while at the same time being a purveyor of pain and suffering. One unique feature which immediately distinguishes these plants from the mint family is the presence of tiny inconspicuous stinging hairs that are hollow, and the bulbous or cylindric base of each of these hollow hairs contains a tiny droplet of formic acid. But the plant also has numerous medicinal qualities.

The Limits of Prigogine’s Idea of Natural Self-Organization
by Timothy R. Stout •  The issue of entropy provides one of the strongest arguments against evolution, both as it relates to chemical evolution (the origin of life) and to macroevolution (turning an amoeba into a man). Ilya Prigogine received the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1977 for his work in the thermodynamics of systems significantly out of equilibrium. He claims that these systems tend to spontaneously organize themselves into what he calls “dissipative structures.” For evolutionists this theoretical process represents a convenient way around the problem of entropy.

The Most Famous Icon of Evolution Is Fraudulent
by Jerry Bergman, Ph.D. •  The most famous icon of evolution — is a drawing showing human evolution from a primitive stooping ape-like creature to a modern human, usually pictured in four to six steps. Usually the parade today starts with a picture that looks like dryopithecus, adding A. robustus, Homo erectus, Neanderthal man, Cro-Magnon man, and modern man.

How Evolutionists Misunderstand Entropy
by Timothy R. Stout •  It has always amazed me how unconcerned evolutionists seem to be about entropy and the problems it poses both for a natural origin of life and for macroevolution. The natural tendency is for heat energy to flow from a hot source to a cold source. The mathematical description of this tendency was called entropy.

by Jerry Bergman Ph.D. •  The late Harvard Professor Stephen Jay Gould (1991, p. 13) concluded that humans are a “tiny and accidental evolutionary twig ... a little mammalian afterthought with a curious evolutionary invention” called the human brain. He (Gould, 1991, p. 15) rejected the idea that the “improbability of our evolution indicates divine intent in our origin.”

by Jerry Bergman, Ph.D. •  One of the main criticisms of the movie Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed (Miller and Stein, 2008) is that Ben Stein and the movie’s producers link Darwinism with eugenics and Nazism. Eugenics, a nightmare of the recent past, has resulted in the death of millions of innocent people in Nazi Germany and elsewhere.

From the Appalachians to the Florida Keys: An Update on the Florida Gravels
by Carl R. Froede Jr., B.S., P.G. •  For uniformitarians, Earth history is drawn directly from their geologic timescale. From this philosophical perspective, sediments are assigned a stratigraphic position consistent with modern depositional environments. For the underlying Arcadia Formation, Fluvial-delatic sedimentary processes merged into cross-shelf and downslope sedimentary processes, again all pulsed by variations in sea-level and climate (windiness, storminess, rainfall) as well as oceanographic processes.

by Wilbert H. Rusch, Sr., M.S., LL.D. •  It is believed that the first public use of the word science was perhaps as the title of an organization: The British Association for the Advancement of Science. This group was founded in 1831. The term is derived from the Latin "scire," meaning ‘to know.’

The Testimony of an O-ring
by Timothy R. Stout •  The foundational concept of evolution is that a living cell can develop by starting with simple chemicals and then making small, step-by-step modifications until the final product is reached. Darwin thought the origin of life was not a big deal. A single cell was simple; it was merely a small, membrane-like bag filled with a jelly-like substance he called “protoplasm.”

Evolving Word Definitions
by Jean K. Lightner, DVM, M.S. •  Since textbooks and some evolutionists often engage in equivocation, or switching between definitions, when discussing evolution, many creationists add qualifying words or phrases to distinguish between these "evolving" definitions. Microevolution describes changes that can be observed on the species level. Paleontologists generally use (believed) "macroevolution" to describe the assumed evolutionary origin of new traits such as feathers, limbs, or teeth. The word evolution is ambiguous.

Radiometric Cherry-Picking
by Carl R. Froede Jr., B.S., P.G. •  The subjective nature of radiometric age-dating can always yield acceptable agedates for rocks, minerals, and fossils because naturalists can adjust or disqualify them at will. This has recently been demonstrated by tests performed on a volcanic meteorite from Mars that gained wide notoriety in the mid-1990s. According to Wayman (2010), the original radiometric age of ALH84001 was derived from the meteorite’s phosphatic minerals. Unfortunately, these minerals can weather in a manner that alters the isotope ratios.

Did Animals Eat Meat Before the Flood?
by Andrew V. Ste. Marie •  Arthropods are members of a large group including insects, crustaceans, spiders, scorpions, etc. This fossil had a well-preserved gut filled with trilobite pieces. Because only one type of trilobite was found in the Kaili (southern China) arthropod’s gut, it was speculated that it attacked the trilobites live instead of scavenging (most scavengers eat a wide variety of animals).

Lebensborn: Breeding Better Nazis by Darwinism
by Jerry Bergman, Ph.D. •  Racial purity (achieving a superior human race by deliberate racial selection) was an obsession with Himmler and the Nazis. He believed that not only physical attributes but character traits, such as loyalty, determination, courage, and a sense of honor, could be biologically transmitted. (The Nazis believed that Americans were "mongrels" and thus racially impure.) The "Aryan Race" signified the Nordic racial ideal promoted by the Nazis, which included most people in Scandinavia, Germany, Austria, excluding Jews. Establishment of the Lebensborn was no small project. In the nine years it was in existence, about 12,000 children, close to half illegitimate, were born in its 15 homes.

The Evolutionary Problem with Pain
by David P. Woetzel, M.S. •  According to Darwinian theory, even tiny changes that negatively impact survival have been “weeded out” by natural selection. From a mother dreading childbirth, to a toddler learning to walk. Debilitating pain is so intense that it overwhelms the desire to eat, or socialize, hunt for food, or even to procreate. It would seem that natural selection would have favored less sensitive nerves or brain sensations.

Understanding Uniformitarianism, Part I: Words
by John K. Reed, Ph.D. •  When the book, The Genesis Flood, hit the bookstores in 1961, the discipline of geology was very different. Planetary science and plate tectonics were virtually unknown, as were facies modeling and seismic stratigraphy. Geology was firmly united around Lyellian gradualism. Whitcomb and Morris (1961) engaged evolution and the secularization of science, and their main target was the geological uniformitarianism which had sealed secular rejection of the Great Flood from the early 1800s.

Eugenics Leader A.E. Wiggam Was a Disciple of Darwin
by Jerry Bergman, Ph.D. •  Wiggam’s basic belief was that “all men are born unequal” and the claim that “one man is as good as another” is false (Wiggam, 1932, p. 491). He added that these differences in humans exist at birth and are not caused by the environment at all. In a debate on environment vs. heredity with famous attorney Clarence Darrow, Wiggam, in harmony with his eugenic beliefs, argued for heredity. The way to get ...“healthy children is by permitting only healthy parents to breed.” In eugenics — superior people need to have more children, and inferior people fewer children.

by Jerry Bergman, Ph.D. •  Today Alexander Winchell (1824–1891) is best known for his attempts to reconcile evolution with Christianity, and for his academic conflicts due to his acceptance of Darwinism (Engel, 1956, 1959). A major motivation for his development of the pre-Adamite theory was the evolutionists’ conclusion that the origin of humans is much older than the then generally accepted biblical six to seven thousand years.

Zircon is also a very hard crystal with a tight lattice.

Is the Human Yolk Sac Vestigial?
by Jerry Bergman, Ph.D. •  Many evolutionists had also maintained that the yolk sac was yet another proof of the biogenic law, primarily because it was regarded as a remnant left over from our "putative reptilian-egg history" — hence the name yolk sac. Although for decades it was thought to be a useless structure, this sac has been proven to be a very important organ that serves several critical functions in the developing embryo.

McCann: Mysterious, Maybe Magnificent
by Paul G. Humber •  Alfred Watterson McCann, in the early 1920s, express himself in print about the Piltdown Hoax three decades before the evolutionary community owned up to the fraudulency. Why is it that we humans are so ready to believe evolution? Could it be that we do not like the sexual restrictions put on us by our Creator? If we can delude ourselves into believing that everything came from nothing (without reference to God), then why not "be natural" and live like animals?

Darwinism Is an Ancient Religious Idea
by Jerry Bergman, PhD •  The Mayan culture, which began about 600 B.C., developed a streamlined evolutionary view that taught that the rain-god created humans by both adding to, and in other ways modifying, his previous creations. The Hindus taught such an idea in the Madhra Sampradaya. In this sacred text the soul starts out its existence in a lower form of life, and is “transmitted to amphibians, reptiles, mammals, semi-man, and finally ends up in a superman” or nirvana state.

Horse Evolution: An Icon Discarded
by Jerry Bergman, PhD •  The history of the horse evolution series began when Yale professor Othniel C. Marsh, endeavoring to confirm Darwin’s evolutionary hypothesis, published a paper in 1874 tracing its theoretical development from a small three-toed little Eohippus (“Dawn horse”) animal “the size of a fox” through larger animals with progressively larger hooves, developed from the middle toe, down to the now common Equis horse.

Natuuralism and Providence
by y John K. Reed, PhD •  Secularism hijacked science to attack Christianity. The “science vs. religion” meme is false and harmful to both science and religion, but it provides the context for secularists to slide from “methodological” to “metaphysical” naturalism. Metaphysical naturalism is a distinctive post-Christian worldview derived from the Enlightenment.

Actualism: A Paper Tiger
by John K. Reed, PhD •  In the 1600s, people possessed a pervasive awareness of providence. Nature’s laws were God’s mediate works, and everything existed moment to moment by God’s power. This view changed in the Enlightenment. By the end of the 1700s, post-Christian intellectuals had turned science against Christianity (Stark, 2003). If knowledge of causes is derived from observation, but if causes change over time, how can we define causes not now in operation? This results in a secular version of the “god-of-the-gaps.” It is a “cause-of-the-gaps” argument, where unknown geological causes are invoked to plug the gaps that today’s causes cannot explain.

Historical Geology's Virtual Past
by John K. Reed, PhD and Peter Klevberg •  What better justifies the unobserved world of the past—entropy or God? A major problem is that they place causality in the physical arena of matter, energy, and “natural law.” Thus, the big bang, which dramatically breaks the causal chain in the physical realm, is a serious problem for all secularists. They might try to argue that ex nihilo creation does the same thing. But secularism is not able to account for physical discontinuities of Creation and miracles.

Carbon 14 Is Now the Creationist’s Friend
by D. Russell Humphreys, PhD •  Professional carbon-14 dating laboratories are reporting significant amounts of C-14 from even the deepest geologic strata. Because all strata below the Pleistocene (Ice Age) are supposed to be millions of years old, the labs should have found no carbon 14 in them at all. But the pre-Flood biosphere was much richer in carbon than today’s. The amount of CO2 in the atmosphere was more than ten times greater than today, according to geological data.

Cryptozoology and Creation Apologetics
by David P. Woetzel, M.S. •  The term cryptozoology was coined by Bernard Heuvelmans (who has come to be called “The Father of Cryptozoology”) in the late 1950s. It comes from three Greek words: kryptos (“hidden”) + zoon (“animal”) + logos (“discourse”), which combine to yield “the science of hidden animals.” Dr. Roy Mackal, a prominent cryptozoologist at the University of Chicago, investigated the Loch Ness phenomenon, and made multiple trips into the Congo searching for sauropod dinosaurs. Mackal wrote the book: "A Living Dinosaur?: In search of Mokele-Mbembe."

Motion and Forces Speak to a Dynamic Creation
by Don B. DeYoung, PhD •  Our knowledge of motion was advanced greatly by the studies of Galileo Galilei (1564–1642). He mathematically described the concepts of velocity and acceleration, and experimented with falling objects. Galileo also correctly described the orbital motion of the planets around the sun. In truth - Galileo challenged the "settled science" of his day. Authorities in both the science establishment and the Church had formed an alliance which kept the status quo and stifled inquiry into nature.

I have no idea how my scientific career will unfold—right now, I am just trying to put a dent into my thesis. But the CRS conference powerfully re-affirmed both my creationist convictions and what I want to devote my life to.

Grand Canyon: Still a Major Geological Mystery
by Michael J. Oard, M.S. •  The Grand Canyon may not be the deepest canyon on Earth, but it is easily the most famous; the combination of its accessibility and awe-inspiring vistas makes it unforgettable. Since the days of John Wesley Powell (in 1869), knowledge of Grand Canyon and its geology, as well as that of the surrounding region, has mushroomed. Many geologists admit to the mystery of the canyon’s origin.

Is the Creationist Literature Loaded with Experiential Thinking?
by Kevin Anderson, PhD •  Peer reviewed scientific journals almost always exclude the possibility of our design and creation by a powerful "God" and in particular One Who has demands, like "Thou Shalt Not..." in His character. Group concensus rules the day in such journals and the underlying research. A "fear of God" is excluded at the outset. From their (evolutionary-based) vantage point they sometimes consider the merits of research by of those of us on the outside. The PLoS (Public Library of Science) authors selected several journal articles, internet essays, and books written by creationists and proponents of ID (Intelligent Design). They then evaluated each of these writings for various characteristics of experiential thinking. From this analysis they determined what percentage of creationist writings exhibited certain forms of this thought process.

Darwin, Gardiner, and the Fuegians
by David P. Woetzel, M.S. •  There is much natural beauty in Patagonia (near southern Chile, Argentina, and Antarctica). In 1826, HMS Beagle, under the command of Captain FitzRoy, was sent to explore the coast of South America. Having discovered the Indians of Tierra del Fuego (Fuegians), he took four natives with him back to visit and learn of England.

Palmaris Longus Muscle: Useless or Useful?
by Jerry Bergman, PhD •  The palmaris longus is a small, cord-like muscle running beneath the skin from the front of the forearm to the palm of the hand. It is believed by many Darwinists to be vestigial (Kigera and Mukwaya, 2011). Vestigial organs are those considered to have been useful in the past, but are "useless or largely useless" today.

First Modern Book on Evolution, in 1844, by Chambers
by Jerry Bergman, PhD •  Robert Chambers (1802–1871) was a leading Scottish geologist, evolutionary pioneer, author, and journal editor. He was very influential in mid-19th century scientific and political circles, mostly as the then anonymous author of Vestiges of the Natural History of Creation, a book published in 1844 that aggressively argued for evolution. It was argued that everything had developed from earlier, simpler forms, including the solar system, the Earth, fish, plants, amphibians, reptiles, birds, mammals, and ultimately man, and even rocks, and corals. (Robert Chambers and his brother William were both born with six fingers on each hand, and six toes on each foot.) During the 1830s, Robert Chambers had taken a deep interest in the rapidly expanding field of geology. Chambers had an enormous influence on many contemporary aspiring scientists, including Mr. Charles Darwin.

An Evolutionary “Arms Race”?
by David P. Woetzel, M.S. •  Evolutionists have used the metaphor of an “arms race” to explain the incredible adaption of natural populations living together in delicate balance in a given ecosystem. Mammalian predator-prey relationships especially have been explained this way, as the carnivores evolve ever more potent weapons of pursuit and conquest, and the herbivores (in theory then) respond with ever more powerful capacities of avoidance and escape.

Is the Octopus Eye Superior to the Human Eye?
by Jerry Bergman, PhD •  The most common putative example of poor design in humans is the so-called backward retina. This claim is often documented by a comparison between the human eye and the cephalopod eye, often that of the octopus. In terrestrial (above water) life, the cornea has a substantial role in achieving optimal focusing, and the cornea shape is designed axially symmetric to fulfill this role. The octopus eye, in contrast, lacks a cornea. The cephalopod eye is well-designed for its marine environment, as is the vertebrate eye for its terrestrial environment.

Fibonacci Numbers - Fibonacci Sequences
by Don DeYoung, PhD •  Leonardo Fibonacci, also called Leonardo of Pisa (A.D. 1170–1240). His 1202 book, Liber Abaci, helped replace Roman Numerals with the decimal number system used worldwide today. The Fibonacci number sequence has many interesting properties. The ratio of any two adjacent, larger Fibonacci numbers, such as 1597/987, approaches the golden mean, or 1.618. This ratio is also called the divine proportion. This appears to be imbedded everywhere in the fabric of the arts and nature. Perhaps it is no accident that the piano has an eight-note octave with five black and eight white keys, all Fibonacci numbers.

Interdisciplinary Contradictions in Evolutionary Theory
by David P. Woetzel, MS •  Paleontologists, for example, may not appreciate how their proposed accommodation to a particular problem stands in stark contradiction to historical scenarios envisioned by the biologists, who are working to resolve their own problems. When the rare beneficial mutation does come along, it must become fixed in the population. This requires that all progeny from the non-mutated individuals need to be eliminated.

The Importance of Flood Geology
by Michael J. Oard, MS and John K. Reed, PhD •  Creationists value physics, chemistry, and mathematics because they communicate divine design at all scales. Biology extends it (design evidences) into the world of the living. Geology, however, has a much different purpose for creationists. It is not “home field,” but it is the arena in which the conflict between Christianity and naturalism first took place. Creationists should be able to see that the evolutionists’ arguments are circular because of unproven (and often incoherent) atheistic assumptions.

Origin-of-Life Research Continues to Spark Debate, Offering False Hope
by Peter M. Murphy, PhD •  At a 2014 international conference on Open Questions on the Origin of Life (OQOL), an entire session dealt with the question, “Why is the origin of life still a mystery?” (OQOL, 2014). In the “origin” view it limits chemicals, energy sources, and reaction conditions to what may possibly have been available in the "distant past" here on earth. The completely naturalistic “origins” view generally includes panspermia, the interplanetary transfer of organic material and possibly even living organisms from unidentified extraterrestrial sources.

by Michael J. But in the years since Miller and Urey reported those results, not a single experiment representing a hypothetical step in abiogenesis has successfully yielded product which is suitable for use in its theoretical succeeding steps.

George McCready Price: An Important Early Creationist
by Jerry Bergman, PhD •  A resurgence of modern biblical creation research in the early 1900s largely began with the work of a Canadian, George McCready Price (1870–1963). Price, a primarily-self-taught geologist, authored 27 creationist and anti-evolution books, as well as hundreds of articles, mostly on geology. In the early 1960s, Henry Morris and John Whitcomb incorporated Price’s major ideas in their book, The Genesis Flood.

Mature Soil and Microbial Life at Day 3
by Glenn V. Wilson •  Tthe mineral fraction of soil can be separated into its particle size fractions of sand (2 mm to 0.05 mm), silt (0.05 to 0.002 mm), and clay (<0.002 mm), according to the USDA classification system (USDA, 2017). Sand and silt are primary minerals derived directly from physical weathering of rock. Sands and silts are primarily composed of silicon and oxygen atoms (predominately quartz, SiO4) or calcium carbonates, and are rather inert (noncharged) particles. Soil can exist and even be somewhat productive without decomposed plant and animal material, but not without microorganisms.

Special Creation is Taught in the Entire Bible
by Jerry Bergman, PhD and David A. Warriner, PhD •  The continuity and consistency of the Bible is one of many important evidences for its supernatural origin. The Bible, a collection of sixty-six books, was written by over forty different authors—kings, peasants, philosophers, fishermen, physicians, shepherds, statesmen, scholars, poets, and plowmen — who lived in various countries. Belief in the plenary verbal inspiration of the Scriptures regarding the original manuscripts or “autographia” requires complete rejection of both cosmological and biological evolution as the supreme creator of all reality.

by Jean K. Lightner, DVM, MS •  Even when working within the evolutionary paradigm earlier in life, Jon had realized several things. First, that speciation can be relatively rapid. Second, that their DNA work was finding clusters. He realized that a phylogenetic tree does not “prove” that organisms are related, he then easily embraced biblical creation. He was able to reflect on the implications that his previous studies had for the creation model. The clusters, or groupings, he saw in the DNA data might correspond to "created kinds" of life.

The incoming visitors’ sign originally said the room was at least 260 million years old, but it was changed in 1988 to read 7–10 million years, and later 2 million years, and now it’s gone. In a 2001 report published in the journal Science, geologists Polyak and Provencio theorized that the Carlsbad Caverns was carved out of ancient limestone by hot, rising water enriched with sulfuric acid.

Shipman •  Remnants of Leedsichthys problematicus are sparse in the fossil record, (there are some 70 isolated fossilized remnant specimens unearthed from: England, France, Germany, Switzerland, Chile, and Argentina) causing scientists to hypothesize that the skeleton was comprised of both bone and cartilage. While cartilage can fossilize, it does not do so as readily as bone because it is a soft tissue.
